God the Fountain
Jeremiah 2:13 says, "My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water."
Here is a quote about that passage from John Piper's book When I dont Desire God:
God pictures himself as a mountain spring of clean, cool, life-giving water. The way to glorify a fountain like this is to enjoy the water, and praise the water, and keep coming back to the water, and point other people to the water, and get strength for love from the water, and never, never, never prefer any drink in the world over the water. That makes the spring look valuable. This is how we glorify God the fountain of living water.
What do you think of that?

Are you a morning thinker? (I noticed the times of your entries) If so, I just wanted to ask you, what is it like to be able to think in the mornings? I've never been able to do it. Anyways... the thing I noticed about the verse was that it made turning away from God not one, but two evils. That was kinda interesting... and the thing I noticed about the quote was that it compared God to fountain of water because God is life. But I wonder how many people consider water as even a daily necessity... or if they even drink water when they get thirsty, or for that matter, ever go long enough without drinking to actually get really thirsty. It's like I can understand the analogy, and I get the mental picture, but I don't. Because I've never needed water like that.
I see what you mean. I have never been dying of thirst, so I forget how precious water really is. But I guess I can say I was dead spiritually so God has become that fountain to me, but I forget about it.
As far as mornings, I am not really a morning person, but usually I have had something cooking in the brain all night and I decide to post in the morning.
