Differences #2
Here is another interesting difference that I realized today.
Imagine this:
St Lou Native #1 - Hi are you from St Lou?
St Lou Native #2 - Yes, are you?
#1 - Yes... Where did you go to high school?
#1 - (to non-native listening in) See, here in St Lou, everyone asks where you went to high school first thing. Its just what we do here.
Non-Native - Oh
Of course, native Charlotteans ask the same thing, but for some reason, I have never explained to a non-native Charlottean that "we ask where you went to high school, its just what we do here."
So... not sure why the natives feel the need to explain that to me all the time... like its something weird they do. Seems normal to me, but then again, I am not from around here.

Hey, Joanna. I found the blog. Yeah, unfortunately, the darker side of that question, though perhaps not completely dark, is that know what high school someone attends, is like the stereotype crib sheet we were talking about, and make assumptions on whether your school was public or private, suburban or urban, etc., etc.
Cool blog. Thanks for the tea.
P.S. Nice blog title. I just read it and the subtitle.
